Alright West Coasters, East Coasters, Florida, Chicago and Texas–if you love low impact, high intensity cardio workouts, than this one if FOR YOU!!!! When I workout, I’m one of those people that has to constantly be moving. So needless to say, I’m not a huge Yoga fan. But if it’s dancing, or running, or hiking, or cycling, or even strength training mixed in with a little cardio, I am all about it. Well, as much about it as one can be–I mean, come on, it’s still ‘WORKing out’ (emphasis on work). I have to say that as of late, Soul Cycle has been one of my favorites workouts ever! I love it because I don’t get the impact or pressure on my knees and back that I sometimes get from running, but I still feel like it’s as intense, or if not more so than running. Not only are you working your booty and legs out on the stand alone bike, but your core is working the whole time, as are your arms. They constantly have you doing push-ups or crunches on the bike, or tap backs with your booty while you
adjust your leg resistance and speed to the beat of the music. And, another ‘best part’ about it, is that its only 45 minutes, but I can feel the calories burning well into the day. I also love that they blast the music in the room, have it dark with candles so you don’t always feel like people are watching you, and encourage you with positive feedback throughout the entire ride. While I realize Soul Cycle is only located in a number of select states currently (hopefully they expand across the country soon!), I know there are many other spinning classes out there that I’ve heard great things about such as Flywheel, Cycle House, or local gym classes…so needless to say, I had to post about the awesomeness of cycling in my weekly favs. Stay healthy, folks–feed your soul!
